Dylan Jahns Kart Racing

Updated: Sep 1, 2020

Owner: Dylan Jahns

Dylan Jahns comes from a long line of racing. Dylan's grandfather was a go kart and figure-8 car racer in his younger years, and he also was Head Mechanic for Chuck Hall, one of the winningest figure-8 drivers in the Ohio-Michigan area. Dylan's father and uncle were both very accomplished Kart racers in the 90s, with multiple Fremont Track championships between the two and podium finishes in the World Karting Association Great Lakes Sprint Series. Both of them currently race dirt oval karts in the Northern Dirt Kart Nationals series.

Dylan raced from ages 6-8 in 50cc Kid Karts and then was pretty much inactive until he turned 22. Dylan's many years of inactivity are due to him focusing on BMX Racing, where he has a national win and a few national podiums, along with a state championship recently in 2018. BMX beat Dylan's body up a bit so he decided to switch to Karting. "I wish I switched sooner". From 22-25 Dylan raced maybe once a year at the Clyde Street Race and usually did pretty well. 3 years ago he moved back to Toledo from Cleveland and decided that he wanted to start taking racing seriously.

Dylan's first year in the Buckeye Karting Challenge he raced only in the Yamaha class and he was pretty much last place in every race. Last year was Dylan's 2nd year racing and he finished 4th/50+ drivers in lo206 and 3rd/25 drivers in Yamaha, along with a career best 4th place finish in the Clyde Street Race. This year the Buckeye Karting Challenge has grown massively and although it is an Ohio state series, it draws people from all over the Midwest, and most of the front runners in the series are national and pro-level drivers. As Dylan's skills have increased so has the level of competition. Dylan currently finds himself 6th place out of 40 drivers in the lo206 standings. For the remainder of the year he will be focusing on the BKC lo206 class with hopes of moving into the top 3 in points. Dylan also have plans on running in the Cup Karts North America Grand Nationals in Newcastle Indiana in October. The CKNA Grands is the largest 4-cycle kart race in the world.
